Vacom Systems is pleased to announce its selection by award winning Nephron Nitrile (nephronpharm.com) to provide Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) wastewater management to its new, $100,000,000 medical products manufacturing factory in West Columbia, SC. This state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will bring production of critical medical PPE supplies back to the United States and strengthen the support and protection of first responders.
The Vacom One-Step Vapor Compression Crystallizer (VCC) will play a central role in managing approximately 1 million gallons per day. The new plant will start up Fall 2022, employing some 250 people. The Vacom system will treat a Reverse Osmosis (RO) reject stream of 20 gallons per minute (GPM) creating clean distilled water for reuse and crystallized salt slurry to be dewatered for protected landfill disposal.
Working with the Nephron team, Vacom was able to make additional water management recommendations beyond its own ZLD system for the proper application of RO membranes and salt dewatering systems. This team effort took advantage of Vacom’s extensive in-house global knowledge of wastewater management engineering and solutions development.
By using the patented Vacom Systems VCC technology for ZLD applications, our clients are becoming part of the fast-growing ZLD movement that emphasizes water recycling and conservation.
